After looking around on the web for lamb with mint sauce, I came up with my own version: Lamb chops, marinated in white wine, Worcestershire sauce and fresh mint. Very simple and very fast to prepare.
Ingredients
- 8 lamb chops
- 1 cup mint leaves
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- ¼ cup / 60ml dry white wine
- ¼ cup / 60ml Worcestershire sauce
- 1/8 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2-3 tbsp sour cream
- ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
- a few sliced strawberries as garnish (optional)
Preparation
- Blend together mint leaves, garlic, 2 tbsp olive oil, white wine, Worcestershire Sauce and pepper. Marinate the lamb chops for 2-3 hours in the mixture (refrigerate).
- Remove lamb chops from marinade - keep the marinade.
- Set heavy pan over medium heat. Add olive oil. Cook the lamb chops until done (ca. 2-3 minutes per side). Remove from pan, keep warm.
- Add marinade to the pan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and stir in the sour cream. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Stir in the shredded cilantro.
- Serve the lamb chops with the sauce and strawberries
Yields 4 servings.
Preparation time: ca. 25 minutes (and 2-3 hours to marinate the lamb chops)

Substitute?
Can creme fraiche substitute well for sour cream in your recipes, particularly this one?
Creme fraiche
Creme fraiche should work fine as a substitute. It's usually a bit milder than sour cream. Before I moved to the U.S. I used creme fraiche much more frequently.
